On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the European Lawyers Union, dedicated to upholding fundamental rights, expresses unwavering solidarity with victims of gender-based violence.
Violence against women – domestic, sexual, economic, verbal, physical and psychological – is a flagrant violation of human rights. As lawyers, we stand by all women and girls who are victims of such acts.
We urge judicial authorities to strengthen law enforcement mechanisms and ensure fair access to justice for all victims. The prevention of these acts must also be enhanced through educational programs and initiatives aimed at eliminating the deep-rooted causes of discrimination.
On this awareness day, we reaffirm our commitment to a society where every individual, regardless of gender, can live without fear of violence. We, European lawyers, call for the advancement of true equality, both in Europe and abroad.
